I see figures and form in kudzu, which is very abundant in my part of the country. I seek to give the viewer an insight into how and what I see in these abstract shapes by flowing paint onto a surface, allowing it to form puddles and blotches, and then looking for figures and shapes to develop further into a pleasing composition. The figures that emerged from this painting seem to be gathering for a ceremony, perhaps a wedding or dedication...it's up to the viewer.
Elizabeth J. Carr Elizabeth Carr was born while her father was stationed in Coco Solo, Panama, reared in a military family, traveled around most of the U.S. and Germany, then married a Naval officer and repeated the pattern for several years, before finally settling in Acworth, GA in 1985. She has been studying watercolor painting for most of her adult life and struggling to find a balance between her mothering/homeschooling career and her love for watercolors.
